The Name

Initially it was thought to be Helsinki Packers, but then stumbled upon the matryoshka emoji ๐Ÿช† and there was the resemblance to the process of building a desktop Linux image.

Maatuska /หˆmษ‘หหŒtuskษ‘/ is the Finnish word for Matryoshka nesting dolls.
